Angelo Mathews steps down as Pune Warriors skipper

Sri Lankan Angelo Matthews has decided to step down from Pune Warriors captaincy for the rest of the Twenty20 season

Mathews was appointed the skipper ahead of the season but dropped himself midway after a string of poor performances. And with Aaron Finch doing well as the captain, Mathews feels it is logical for Finch to carry on leading the team.

Mathews’ decision came moments after he was affirmed as the Sri Lanka captain for next month’s Champions Trophy.
