His selection in the Indian team may have raised quite a few eyebrows but wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha is hardly bothered about what his critics think about him. After his match-winning 46 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala, the Bengal glovesman said that he was never under any kind of pressure having replaced Shrikant Aniruddha in the Chennai Super Kings playing eleven. "I was never under any kind of pressure. Any given situation suits me fine. My job is to go out there and perform for the team," Wriddhiman told reporters at the post-match conference after Chennai beat Kochi by 11 runs in an Indian Premier League match. For someone who is considered to be the best wicket-keeper in terms of technique, Wriddhiman is at ease fielding in the deep. "When your captain is the main 'keeper you have to be ready to field at any position. I am enjoying my fielding." Going into yesterday's match, he said he was instructed by coach Stephen Fleming that he may be promoted up the order in case the team lost quick wickets. "The coach told me that I will bat at No.5 today. My idea was to initially rotate the strike and then go for the big shots after getting set as the wicket was on the slower side," Wriddhiman said. He agreed that doing well in a big platform like the IPL will boost his confidence ahead of the tour of West Indies. Wriddhiman has always been known to be a grafter but he disagrees with the popular notion that grafters can't play T20. "In today's era, everyone needs to now the art of playing T20. If you have the talent, you can succeed in any format be it Test cricket or Twenty20." Asked whether he feels a little bit rusty ahead of the Caribbean tour having not kept wickets for a considerable period of time, he said, "I always practice hard and so being rusty is out of question."
