Ahead of the fourth T20I match against Team India, Australia's spinner Matthew Kuhnemann is hopeful that his side manages to dismiss the visitors' swashbuckling opening batsman, Abhishek Sharma.
In the first T20I match, Abhishek departed after scoring just 19 runs in 14 balls, with the help of four boundaries. The second match witnessed the left-hander smash 68 runs in just 37 deliveries, including eight boundaries and two maximums. In the third T20I, the 25-year-old accumulated 25 runs off 16 balls, which was laced with two boundaries and the same number of maximums.
Ahead of the fourth game, Kuhnemann is hopeful that either Xavier Bartlett or Ben Dwarshuis will taste success in showing Abhishek the path to the pavilion early in the match.
"Yeah, it's crucial. It's such a big game now. In T20 cricket, you talk about momentum. We're trying to wrestle that back from India at the moment and hopefully win the next two games. Hopefully, it's Xavier Bartlett or one of the quicks, Benny Dwarshuis, who can take his wicket in the first couple of overs. He's (Abhishek) a serious talent, and he just goes so hard from ball one. It's going to be a great spectacle on Thursday, but hopefully those boys can get him cheaply," said the spinner.
He also feels that both teams are showcasing a similar approach in the game, and taking the wickets of the middle order will be crucial in Carrara.
"Yeah, I think the way they're playing is sort of similar to how we're playing as well. They're very explosive, I think, from ball one now. The game's changing rapidly, and you can sort of tell the players a lot. Players like how Timmy David went about it and just go hard from ball one, like I said. Yeah, I think taking wickets is crucial for both teams in the middle order," said the 29-year-old cricketer.
The fourth T20I match between India and Australia is scheduled to be played on November 6 at the Carrara Stadium in Queensland. The ongoing five-match T20I series is currently tied at 1-1, with the first game ending without a result.
