In the second T20I match against Team India, South Africa emerged victorious by 51 runs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in Punjab.

Tilak Varma and Jitesh Sharma showcased their immense skills with the bat, but fell short to guie the team to victory. Facing 34 balls, Varma smashed 62 runs, including two boundaries and five maximums, whereas Jitesh smashed 27 runs in 17 balls, with the help of two boundaries and the same number of maximums.


All South African bowlers chipped in and claimed wickets. Bowling four overs each, Marco Jansen and Lutho Sipamla claimed two wickets each. Ottniel Baartman bagged four wickets by conceding 24 runs in his spell of four overs.



Lungi Ngidi also bagged two wickets and gave away 26 runs in 3.1 overs.

Having put to chase a target of 213 runs, Team India's opening batsman Abhishek Sharma returned to the pavilion after scoring 17 runs in eight balls. His knock included two maximums. Shubman Gill departed on a duck on the very first ball of his innings.

Facing 21 balls, Axar Patel garnered 21 runs, including a boundary and a maximum. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored five runs off four balls, including a boundary. Premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya also accumulated 20 runs in 23 balls, including a maximum. 

Having put to bat first, South Africa posted 213 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Opening the innings for South Africa, Quinton de Kock played a blistering knock of 90 runs off 46 deliveries. His knock was laced with five boundaries and seven maximums. Fellow opener Reeza Hendricks departed after scoring just eight runs in 10 balls, with the help of a maximum.

Later, skipper Aiden Markam scored 29 runs in 26 balls, with the help of a boundary and two maximums. Dewald Brevis accumulated 14 runs off 10 balls. His knock included a boundary and a maximum.

Donovan Ferreira and David Miller stayed unbeaten on scores of 30 and 20 runs, respectively. Facing 16 balls, Ferreira smashed a boundary and three maximums, whereas Miller smashed two boundaries and a maximum in his 12-ball knock.

On the other hand, having completed four overs, Varun Chakaravarthy claimed two wickets by conceding 29 runs. Axar Patel also picked up one wicket by leaking 27 runs in three overs.

Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube went wicketless in the match. Bowling four overs, Arshdeep was smashed for 54 runs, whereas Bumrah conceded 45 runs in his spell of four overs. Pandya bowled three overs and gave away 34 runs. Dube leaked 18 runs in two overs.
