The Lalit Modi camp has promised to reply within the stipulated time to the show-cause notice issued to them by the Regional Passport Office (RPO) on October 13.u00a0
"We have received the show-cause notice; will reply to it before the stipulated time. There are no two ways about that," Modi's lawyer, Mehmud Abdi told sunday MiD DAY.
On Friday, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said that necessary action would be initiated by RPO under relevant provisions, if Modi does not reply to the notice within the stipulated time of October 28.
The External Affairs ministry of India had received a request from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 5, seeking revocation of Modi's passport On October 15, ED provided an alternate residential address of Modi and a copy of the notice was sent there on that day itself.
Modi has been mostly living outside India since in April, and to force his return home to co-operate with the investigation, BCCI approached the external affairs ministry to cancel his passport.
