In the ODI Women's World Cup 2025 match against South Africa, Team India were bowled out for 251 runs in 49.5 overs at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
India's Richa Ghosh delivered a fighting knock of 94 runs off just 77 deliveries. Her knock was laced with 11 boundaries and four maximums.
Having been put to bat first, India's Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana opened the innings and delivered a decent start. Facing 32 balls, Mandhana departed after scoring 23 runs, with the help of a boundary and a maximum. On the other hand, Rawal accumulated 37 runs off 56 balls, which were laced with five boundaries.
Harleen Deol returned to the pavilion on a low score. She managed to make just 13 runs in 23 balls, including a boundary.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, too, was not able to score many runs. She was dismissed on four runs after facing 24 balls. Jemimah Rodrigues departed on a four-ball duck, whereas Deepti Sharma was able to score just four runs in 14 deliveries.
Amanjot Kaur registered 13 runs in 44 balls and also smashed a boundary.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Ghosh played a glorious knock, but fell short by just six runs of completing her well-deserved century. Supporting her on the other end was Sneh Rana, who garnered 33 runs in 24 balls, with the help of six boundaries.
Nallapureddy Charani registered a one-ball duck, and Kranti Gaud stayed unbeaten after facing one ball.
Chloe Tryon was the most successful bowler for South Africa. Completing her quota of 10 overs, she bagged three wickets by conceding 32 runs. Marizanne Kapp, Nadine de Klerk, and Nonkululeko Mlaba registered two wickets each to their names.
In her spell of 10 overs, Mlaba was smashed for 46 runs, while Kapp conceded 45 runs in nine overs. Nadine gave away 52 runs in 6.5 overs.
Tumi Sekhukhune also bagged one wicket by leaking 29 runs in seven overs. Ayabonga Khaka went wicketless against Team India.
The Proteas will now have to heavily rely on their skipper, Laura Wolvaardt, and premier batswoman Tazmin Brits to chase a target of 252 runs in 50 overs.
