In the ODI Women's World Cup 2025 match against Bangladesh, Pakistan were bowled out for 129 runs in 38.3 overs at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Having won the toss, the Pakistan women's cricket team skipper, Fatima Sana, elected to bat first. Opening the innings, Muneeba Ali scored 17 runs in 35 balls, including two boundaries.
Fellow opening batswomen, Omaima Sohail and Sidra Ameen, returned to the pavilion on one-ball ducks each.
Rameen Shamim was the highest run-scorer for the side. Facing 39 balls, she scored 23 runs, including two boundaries. Aliya Riaz faced 43 balls and scored 13 runs, including two boundaries.
Sidra Nawaz, too, scored 15 runs off 20 balls, with the help of three boundaries. Skipper Fatima Sana played a knock of 22 runs off 33 balls. She also smashed three boundaries.
Natalia Pervaiz scored nine runs in 14 balls, with the help of one boundary. Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal registered the scores of one and four runs, respectively. Sandhu's knock ended in seven balls, whereas Iqbal faced 17 balls.
Diana Baig stayed unbeaten on 16 runs in 22 balls, including two boundaries.
Shorna Akter was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh. In her spell of 3.3 overs, she bagged three wickets for five runs. Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter claimed two wickets each. Marufa bowled seven overs and leaked 31 runs, and Nahida conceded 19 runs in eight overs.
Rabeya Khatun, Fahima Kahtun, and Nishita Akter Nishi registered one wicket each to their names. Bowling six overs, Nishi gave away 28 runs. Khatun and Kahtun were smashed for 13 and 32 runs, respectively, in their spells of seven overs each.
Having restricted Pakistan to a low score, the Bangladesh women's cricket team, led by Nigar Sultana, will expect their opening duo, Fargana Hoque and Rubya Haider, to deliver good starts in the ODI Women's World Cup 2025 match in Colombo.
Additionally, the side will expect Akter to make a crucial contribution with the willow in order to secure a victory in the campaign opening match against Pakistan.
Pakistan will then lock horns against arch-rivals, Team India, on October 5.
