Punjab Kings and Outer Delhi Warriors' batsman Priyansh Arya has heaped praise on Shreyas Iyer saying that he is one of the best leaders in the game.
Speaking at the jersey unveiling event of Outer Delhi Warriors, ahead of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) season 2, Arya told ANI, "You must have seen Captain Shreyas Iyer. He won the KKR final last year. I consider him to be one of the best leaders in cricket".
In 2024, Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title in the league's history.
The Indian cricketer came close this year after Punjab Kings acquired the services of Iyer in the mega auction for IPL 2025. Leading the PBKS' pack, he guided them to the league's final, in which they suffered a loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six runs.
Beyond his praise for Iyer, Arya pressed on the importance of playing for the team, and not as an individual.
"I feel that I should win for my team as much matches as I can. Every player plays with the responsibility of winning for the team. The same thing applies to last year's team as well," he said.
The franchise owners are confident that their new jersey will bring in fortune to the team in DPL season 2.
Former Team India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel, Siddhant Sharma, along with Suyash Sharma made their appearance at the event.
The unveiling marked the introduction of the franchise's new identity, with the players showcasing the colours that will be worn during the August DPL calendar.
Parthiv, Priyansh, and Suyash agreed on the jersey's symbolic value, noting it as a major milestone in building the team's identity and connection with the NCR audience.
Iyer's Barcelona visit and India's test match
Earlier, Iyer visited FC Barcelona's camp. The official social media handle of the club shared a video in which they gifted a jersey with the 30-year-old's name pressed on it.
India's national team is currently engaged with England in a five-match Test series. The Shubman Gill-led side is trailing by 1-2 against the 'Three Lions', with the fifth and final match scheduled to begin from July 31.
