Returning heroes: How they fared...

We look at some of the high-profile figures in football to have gone back to a place where they previously enjoyed success.

Sir Matt Busby
(Manchester United, Feb 1945-May 1969; Dec 1970-May 1971)
Although he never left Old Trafford, Busby’s presence in the role of general manager saw him return as boss in place of Wilf McGuinness, who lasted little more than a year as Busby’s initial successor.

Kenny Dalglish
(Liverpool, May 1985-Feb 1991; Jan 2011-May 2012)
In 1985 the King of the Kop was named player-manager and he led the Reds to three league championships. His return, in Jan 2011 after Roy Hodgson’s ill-fated spell, did not go as well and lasted little more than a year.
