In the T20 World Cup 2026 match against the West Indies, Team India emerged victorious by five wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Having put to chase a target of 196 runs, the "Men in Blue" scored 199 runs for the loss of five wickets in 19.2 overs. Opening the innings, swashbuckling batsman Abhishek Sharma scored 10 runs in 11 balls, including two boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson played a crucial knock of an unbeaten 97 runs off just 50 deliveries. His knock was laced with 12 boundaries and four maximums.


Ishan Kishan scored 10 runs in six balls, including two boundaries. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav accumulated 18 runs after facing 16 balls, and also smashed a boundary and a maximum. Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya registered the scores of 27 and 17 runs, respectively. Facing 15 balls, Varma smashed four boundaries and a maximum, whereas Pandya's knock of 14 balls included two boundaries.



Shivam Dube scored an unbeaten eight runs in four balls, with the help of two boundaries.

West Indies' Jason Holder and Shamar Joseph bagged two wickets each. Akeal Hosein also claimed one wicket. Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd, and Roston Chase went wicketless in the T20 World Cup 2026 match against the "Men in Blue".

Earlier, having put to bat first, West Indies' skipper Shai Hope scored 32 runs in 33 balls, including three boundaries and a maximum. Fellow opening batsman Roston Chase registered 40 runs off 25 deliveries, laced with five boundaries and a maximum.

Shimron Hetmyer departed after scoring 27 runs in 12 balls, including a boundary and two maximums. Sherfane Rutherford also scored 14 runs in nine balls, including a maximum.

Later, Rovman Powell smashed an unbeaten 30 runs off 19 deliveries, including three boundaries and two maximums. Along with him, Jason Holder garnered an unbeaten 37 runs after facing 22 balls. His knock also included two boundaries and three maximums. With this, the West Indies posted a total of 195 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.

Team India's Jasprit Bumrah returned with the figures of two wickets for 36 runs in four overs. Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakaravarthy also claimed one wicket each. Arshdeep Singh and vice-captain Axar Patel went wicketless in the T20 World Cup 2026 match against the West Indies.
