Tendukar's bat fetches Rs 42 lakh at auction

Some of the greatest treasures in the history of sport, donated by 25 of its greatest champions were put under the hammer for the first time for India's most historic sports auctionu00a0-- EQUATIONu00a0-- an auction for equality.

The Foundation, an NGO backed by actor and ex-rugby international, Rahul Bose put together this historic Friday evening in association with Raheja Universal.

The proceeds of the auction will go to Bose's NGOu00a0-- The Foundation, dedicated to creating a world without discrimination.

Anil Kumble was among the first to arrive and, as always, was a delight and a favourite among the bidders. In fact, his ten-wicket-in-an-inning-jersey fetched Rs 11.5 lakh.

Fellow Bangalorian Rahul Dravid looked absolutely amazing in his crisp formal avatar on the red carpet. His 2005 bat fetched Rs 20 lakh. Bats from two batting legendsu00a0-- Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar hit the ball out of the stadium!

Tendulkar's bat received the highest bid of a whopping Rs 42 lakh while Gavaskar's bat went for Rs 17.5 lakh. Leander Paes' 12th Grand Slam winning racquet was the second piece to be auctioned and received a bid of Rs 7 lakh.
