Ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026, Mumbai Indians (MI) captain <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/wpl-2026-performing-well-in-womens-premier-league-will-help-players-in-international-cricket-harmanpreet-kaur-23611003" rel="nofollow">Harmanpreet Kaur</a> opened up about the mindset with which the team will be entering the tournament.
Speaking about it, the skipper said, "We have the same energy and excitement this season. We are going with a similar mindset like we did for the last three years and won two titles. Our mindset is to play good cricket".
"We will do whatever is possible to win the title. Its is a very important season as a lot of exciting cricket is coming up," she added.

Kaur also feels that performing well in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/wpl-gujarat-skipper-ashleigh-gardner-seeks-giant-strides-from-pacer-renuka-singh-thakur-23610916" rel="nofollow">WPL</a> will help players succeed at the international level.
"The competition in the WPL is very high, and you play good cricket there. If you can perform well there, you'll encounter all those players at the international level. So I think when you perform well against them there, it stays in everyone's mind that this player did very well in the WPL. That's why you can also do well in international cricket," she told the media.
She also believes playing more cricket will help a player gain confidence. Kaur then pointed out that earlier, the women's players used to not have opportunities to play more matches, as they do now.
"The more <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/eng-vs-aus-5th-test-david-gower-michael-vaughan-heap-praise-on-jacob-bethell-blistering-century-23610996" rel="nofollow">cricket</a> you play, the more your confidence grows. Earlier, our players didn't have as many matches as they do now. We know that when girls come into cricket, they are new, and then suddenly they are playing for the Indian team. They don't have much experience. But the more you play cricket and play on different platforms, the more your confidence increases," said the 36-year-old cricketer.
Mumbai Indians (MI) will kick off their WPL 2026 campaign by playing a clash against <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/photo/royal-challengers-bengaluru-veteran-virat-kohli-18-year-long-wait-to-clinch-ipl-title-comes-to-an-end-108831" rel="nofollow">Royal Challengers Bengaluru</a> (RCB) on January 9 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
The semi-final of the WPL 2026 is scheduled to be played on February 3 at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Kotambi. Later, the fans will witness the title clash of the marquee event at the same venue on February 5.
