Kohli's rich vein in form also helped him to become the third Indian batsman to hit 600 or plus runs in a single ICC World Cup edition
The former India skipper also registered his name for creating a record of the most fifty-plus scores in a single ICC World Cup edition on Wednesday in New Zealand's clash. So far, the right-hander has eight fifty-plus scores in the ICC World Cup 2023. He surpassed the record of Sachin Tendulkar and Shaib al Hasan who have seven fifty-plus scores each. Tendulkar achieved this milestone back in 2003 and Hasan in the year 2019
India's 'Run-Machine' Virat Kohli surpassed Ricky Ponting in the list of most runs in ODIs. Kohli is now placed in the third position on the list with 13,794 runs. Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 18,426 runs, followed by Kumar Sangakkara with 14,234 runs
