Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur, who was added to the squad as a pace bowling all-rounder for the first Test match, had hardly made any contributions. He was also a part of lower-order failure during the series opener. If he sits out for the second Test match, spinner Kuldeep Yadav or pace bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy can come in his place
Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna, who was expected to show support to India's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, failed to step up to the role. Krishna also achieved the record of becoming the Indian bowler to deliver the worst economy rate in a spell of at least 20 overs. If he misses the cut in the playing XI for the second Test, Arshdeep Singh will likely make his debut in the longest format of the game
Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah claimed five wickets in the series opener. But the pacer will now feature in only two out of the remaining four Test matches, considering his workload management. If management provides Bumrah rest in the second match, it will be interesting to see who comes in as his replacement
Karun Nair
Karun Nair fell short of announcing his comeback in style during the first Test match. Following his failure, the management may think of bringing in Abhimanyu Easwaran for the second match. Will India bench Nair for the second game? Will be the point of discussion until the match kicks starts
The Shubman Gill-led Team India will clash against the 'Three Lions' for the second Test match from July 2
