During the third Test match against Team India, England's Joe Root took the catch of Karun Nair on Day 2. With this, he added another milestone in his illustrious career
After taking Nair's catch, Root broke the record of former Team India cricketer Rahul Dravid for the most outfield catches in the longest format of the game
Currently, Root is enjoying the top spot on the list of most outfield catches in Test Cricket. He has 211 catches to his name in the traditional format of the game
Earlier, Dravid held the record with 210 catches. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene also slipped to the third spot with 205 catches
Before his impressive moment in the field, Root soared past Australia's mainstay Steve Smith and Dravid (36) to become the fifth-highest century-getter in all of Test cricket, with legends Sachin Tendulkar (51), Jacques Kallis (45), Ricky Ponting (41) and Kumar Sangakkara (38) ahead of him
The right-hander also tied with South African legend Hashim Amla for the joint-sixth-highest number of centuries in all forms of the game, with 55 centuries each
