Wife Shaniera Akram took a strong stand against a misleading post on X (formerly Twitter) that falsely included Akram’s name among cricketers who had allegedly gone through legal separations.
The controversy erupted when the X account ‘Out Of Context Cricket’ shared a post titled ‘Divorced XI,’ featuring a list of renowned cricketers who had experienced marital separations. The list included prominent names such as Ravi Shastri, Javagal Srinath, Dinesh Karthik, and Shikhar Dhawan, while Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was humorously designated as the team’s 'impact player'.
Shockingly, Wasim Akram’s name was also included in this lineup, despite the fact that he has never been divorced. Unimpressed by the false claim, Shaniera Akram swiftly took to social media to denounce the post. She reshared the tweet and directly addressed the account, writing, “Hey @GemsOfCricket. You guys are definitely ‘out of context,’ and from what I can see, you’re also out of correct and reliable information!"
Her sharp response quickly gained traction, drawing widespread support from fans who criticized the page for disseminating baseless rumours. Many users condemned the post for trivializing personal lives and exploiting cricketers’ private matters for engagement and entertainment.
