The World Test Championship (WTC) final between Australia and South Africa has been scheduled to be played at Lord's Cricket Ground. The title clash will be in action from June 11 to 15
Ahead of the final, former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Mark Boucher feels Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs will be the top two players in the Proteas' success in England
"Ryan Rickelton has been playing nicely for Mumbai Indians (MI) and he was actually on the tour that we went to England [in 2022] as well. He's actually played quite a few games in England as well, so he'll know the conditions," Boucher told ESPNCricinfo
"Tristan Stubbs has come back and played a lot of domestic cricket and basically forced his way into the Test side because of the runs that he's got. On paper, Australia will probably feel that they've got a better batting line-up than what we have, but have we got the attitude to go out there and in a one-off game, just leave it all out there? Absolutely," said the 48-year-old
Both these players featured in the IPL 2025, which was the only big event before the WTC final. Featuring for Mumbai Indians in 14 matches, Rickelton has amassed 388 runs with a strike rate of 150.97
On the other hand, Stubbs, representing Delhi Capitals in 14 games and accumulated 300 runs with a strike rate of 150.75
South Africa's squad for WTC final: Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma (c), David Bedingham, Tristan Stubbs, Kyle Verreynne, Wiaan Mulder, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Dane Paterson, Keshav Maharaj, Senuran Muthusamy
