European powerhouse Germany bounced back from their shock defeat in the previous match as they beat African side Guinea 3-1 to qualify for the knock-out round of the FIFA U-17 World Cup here yesterday.

Germany scored through Jan-Fiete Arp (8th minute), Nicolas Kuehn (62nd) and Sahverdi Cetin (90+2), while Ibrahima Soumah got the lone goal for Guinea in the 26th minute in the final Group 'C' match at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium. Germany, who had lost to Iran 0-4 in their previous match, finished second in the group with six points and qualified for the Round-of-16.
They face Colombia, who finished second in Group 'A', in the last-16 match in New Delhi on Monday. Iran, who beat Costa Rica 3-0 in another group match in Goa yesterday, topped the pool with nine points and an all-win record.
Guinea, Costa Rica out Guinea and Costa Rica were knocked out of the tournament with a point each. Germany coach Christian Wueck said there was intense pressure on his team from fans back home after the shock loss to Iran. "Yes it was very hard for us after the game against Iran. Reaction in Germany were not so good. After the game against Iran, pressure on our players was very, very high. We wanted to stay cool," Wueck said.
Looking forward to match against Colombia, the German coach said their opponents are very strong. "Colombia are a good team. We saw their last game. But we are happy to get to last 16. First of all we have to sleep."
'Improvement needed' "We have a team who is very strong on the offence. The first game against Costa Rica we won (2-1). Today I think we could have scored five to six goals. I think this is the point we have to be better in the next game against Colombia."
