Spearheaded by midfielder Advait Parab’s hat-trick, St Stanislaus High School (Bandra) secured a commanding 4-0 win over St Lawrence High School (Kandivli) in a boys U-16 Division-I match of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school football tournament at the Wings Sports Centre (Bandra) on Thursday.

Interestingly, the St Stanislaus boys, who, earlier in the day, had played and won their DSO (District Sports Office) semi-final against Oxford School (Andheri) 3-0 at Borivli, showed no signs of fatigue here. They wasted no time in asserting their dominance with Advait opening the scoring in the third minute with a strike into the bottom left corner.

Ramugade makes it two

Six minutes later, Ayush Ramugade doubled the lead, capitalising on a defensive lapse.

After the break, Advait continued to shine. In the 39th minute, he showed composure and control to net his second, making it 3-0. In the 42nd minute, he completed his hat-trick with a curling shot into the top corner.

Advait credited his off-field discipline for the improvement in his game.

“I am working hard on myself, efficiently managing playing time, diet and sleep, so that I can play to the best of my abilities,” he said.

St Stanislaus coach Melchoir Fernandes, stressed on the importance of building on this momentum.

‘It’s all about momentum’

“Winning games, no matter which tournament, is a big positive, but it’s always more important to carry that positive approach into the next game,” he said.
Meanwhile, St Lawrence coach Lachman Bisht admitted this was a “tough fixture” for his boys.
