The women's TT team runners-up in Delhi four years ago, failed to win a medal this time after losing the bronze play-off to Australia yesterday.
Ziyu Zhang starred for Australia by winning her two singles, against Shamini Kumaresan (11-5, 2-11, 11-6, 11-9) and Madhurika Patkar respectively.
Zhang's come-from-behind win in the fourth rubber against Patkar helped Australia seal the tie 3-1. Patkar went down 9-11 11-5 11-8 8-11 9-11. Meanwhile, India's female judoka Jina Devi Chongtham lost to Cameroon's Hortense Mballa atangana in the women's (78kg) judo bronze medal match.
Later, judoka Parikshit Kumar was beaten by Australia's Jake Andrewartha in the Men's +100kg judo bronze medal encounter.
