Former champions Shardashram Vidyamandir (English) crashed to an innings and 120-run defeat to Swami Vivekanand (Kandivali) in their two-day Elite Group Harris Shield match at Cross Maidan yesterday.
After scoring 266 in 63 overs, Swami Vivekanand (Kandivli) bowled out Shardashram for 153 thanks to off-spinner Sai Naidu&rsquo;s five-wicket haul. Following on, Shardashram yet again succumbed to Sai (6 for 16) and were dismissed for 98. Leg-spinner Neil Patade claimed 3 for 28 as the Kandivli side won by an innings and 20 runs.
Adhesive Abbas shines Left-handed batsman Abbas Karachiwala&rsquo;s unbeaten 58 helped Lilavati Podar avoid defeat against IES VN Sule Guruji English Vidyalaya at the Elphinstone ground, Oval Maidan.
The No. 4 batsman remained not out as his side ended the game with 149 for 9. Abbas, who put on a vital 45-run partnership with Gaurav Bathena, batted for almost 30 overs from one end.
Earlier, his spin bowling claimed three IES wickets. IES left-arm spinner Ayush Zimare&rsquo;s 6-69 went in vain.
Yash too good At the Parsee Gymkhana, Swami Vivekanand International School (Borivli) dished out a dominant performance to beat IES Modern English School (Dadar) by an innings and 128 runs.&nbsp;
Overnight centurion Vighnesh Kharge slammed an unbeaten 150, (18x4, 1x6). Suved Parkar, who was unbeaten on 25 overnight, scored 72.
Swami Vivekanand&rsquo;s off-spinner Yash Jathar claimed eight wickets in the game including 6-43 in his 19-over spell in IES Modern English&rsquo;s second innings in which they were dismissed for 74 following their paltry 88 in the first.
Super skip Shreyas Rizvi Springfield registered an outright win over Cathedral &amp; John Connon at the Vengsarkar Academy, Oval Maidan.
Resuming on their overnight score of 214 for 3, Rizvi declared at 260 for 4 in 42.1 overs after batting for 20 minutes.
Skipper Shreyas Mandlik, who ended Day One with 96, reached his hundred with a boundary and ended up with 120 off 105 balls. Following on, Cathedral were dismissed for 75.
Cathedral couldn&rsquo;t do better in the second innings and were bowled out for 44 through the bowling efforts of medium pacer Akash Yadav (3-8), off-spinner Mandlik (3-4) and left-arm spinner Farhan Shaikh (3-9).
