Brazilian football legend Pele has turned songwriter, music director and singer. The 75-year-old has composed and recorded his own hit song for the upcoming summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled to take place from August 5-21.
The song "Esperanca" (hope) will be released on this Friday -- July the 15th.
Pele, who is a favourite for the role of the last torch-bearer at the opening ceremony of the Rio Games on August 5, on Wednesday posted this news on his Twitter account.

"I wrote and recorded a song called 'Esperanca' for the Olympics. I can't wait to share it with you on July 15!," Edson Arantes do Nascimento said on Twitter.
The tweet came four days after his wedding with 42-year-old Brazilian businesswoman of Japanese descent Marcia Cibele Aoki, his companion for the last six years.
After retiring from football, Pele, who was declared 'Athlete of the Century' by&nbsp;International Olympic Committee (IOC), has time and again tried his hand at acting and singing.
Pele has spoken about his inability to add an Olympic medal to his trophy cabinet since he was never part of the Brazilian Olympic squad since professional players were barred from the event during his days.
&ldquo;I joke with my friends because we really never had a title, and this was a chance God gave to me in receiving this honour. Let&rsquo;s hope and think positively, that maybe we can take an Olympic title, and once again, for all those who have been part of my story, thank you very much, may God protect you,&rdquo; he had said after being awarded the Olympic Order, the highest IOC award, by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The &ldquo;King of Football&rdquo; was granted the highest honour by the body for his significant contributions to the movement.
IOC president Thomas Bach presented the award in form of an Olympic necklace of rings and laurels to Pele while visiting the Pele Museum in Santos, Sao Paulo.
Pele, who won three FIFA World Cups with Brazil -- 1958, 1962 and 1970, was instrumental in Brazil&rsquo;s victorious campaign to host the games.
