The seventh edition of the Indiabulls Home Loans Vasai-Virar Mayor's Marathon will be held on December 10. The event offers a total prize money of Rs 35 lakh across all categories with the men's full marathon winner taking home Rs 2.5 lakh. The winners of the men's and women's half marathon will pocket Rs 1.5 lakh. Bollywood actor Rahul Bose and actor-cum-cricket presenter Mandira Bedi, who are the event's ambassadors, lauded the effort to organise a marathon. "Why is running so important? It's because there is no hierarchy of skills. You can run as fast as you want even if you wear branded shoes or run barefoot. There is no hierarchy of equipment," said Bose.
Bedi said: "Running is like an addiction to me. I am looking forward to see local women running in sarees at the Vasai-Virar marathon. I would love to run with them."
