Imagine a bowler's plight when he is being thrashed all over the park by an in-form batsman. Ask Keval Shah, the skipper of St Francis D'Assisi (Borivli).

D’Assisi were the Harris Shield Plate Division winners last year and earned a promotion to Elite Division this season. Yesterday, of the 546 that Rizvi Springfield’s Prithvi Shaw scored, 180 came off Keval’s bowling.

After the record innings, Keval too praised Prithvi. “Prithvi scored 257 on Day One and our aim was to take his wicket early today. We played badly and were poor in both bowling and fielding. We dropped many catches and that cost us the game. We were under immense pressure.u00a0

“Firstly, we were playing against the defending champions. Secondly, we had not experienced what playing in the Elite Division was like. This match has taught us a lesson.

We need to put in a lot of hard work from here. It was frustrating when Prithvi hit fours and sixes. But he is a good player and I really appreciate the way he played today.”

Varun Abhyankar, who got Prithvi out to complete a fifer, is in awe of the talented batsman. “I am satisfied that I finally got the prized wicket of Prithvi. But at the same time, I am frustrated that we were unable to take his wicket earlier.

He was brilliant. I watched how he waited for the loose balls to hit boundaries.”u00a0Satyalaksh Jain (164) with whom Prithvi shared a second wicket partnership of 619 runs said, “I knew that Prithvi was the man of the moment and hence I was playing the supporting role.

Once he scored 500 runs, our aim was to score a record partnership of 700 plus runs. But I played a wrong ball and got out. It was really disappointing that I couldn’t stay till the end.”u00a0
