Paris: Second seed Roger Federer reached the French Open quarter-finals for the 11th time yesterday with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over France&rsquo;s Gael Monfils. Federer, the 2009 champion, will now face Swiss Davis Cup winning teammate Stan Wawrinka for a place in the semi-finals.

He raced through the final two sets on Monday in just over an hour after the last-16 tie was delicately poised at a set apiece when it was suspended in the chilly gloom of Sunday evening. &ldquo;I feel fresh and pumped up to be back in the quarter-finals again after missing out last year,&rdquo; said Federer.
Third-seeded Andy Murray reached the French Open quarter-finals on Monday with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over unseeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy. Murray, twice a semi-finalist in Paris, will face 2013 runner-up David Ferrer of Spain for a place in the last four.

Meanwhile, Murray insisted he's trying to tone down the bad language on court. The world number three had taken to Twitter after he was criticised for his outbursts on Saturday. &ldquo;I try 2 be a good role model but this is one of my many failings. I&rsquo;m far from perfect but I do try hard to improve my behaviour,&rdquo; he tweeted.
