Jockey Hughes apologises for scandalous remarks
Updated On: 11 December, 2012 08:26 AM IST | | Prakash Gosavi
In what is being viewed as an embarrassing gesture for a jockey of his stature, English rider Richard Hughes has delivered an unequivocal apology to the stewards and administration of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) Ltd for the scandalous remarks he made against them on social media sites and in his autobiography, "A Weight Off My Mind".
It may be recalled that Hughes was suspended by RWITC stewards for six weeks for not following instructions of the trainer on a horse named Jacqueline Smile in February this year. Hughes’ appeal was also turned down, and he was forced to miss the start of the English flat racing season of 2012 as the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) refused to stay the ban imposed by RWITC.
