The Mayor's Trophy is the prime event of a seven-race card slated for Thursday evening at the Mahalaxmi racetrack. By the virtue of being the sole three-year-old in the fray, the Imtiaz Sait-trained Summer Ray (Trevor Patel up) will have the most followers.
However, there are at least three horses among her eight rivals that Summer Rays will need to worry about: Hedwig, whose last victory on this track was exactly one year ago over the same trip; Flag Flying, who cut blazing fractions in her last start and displayed the kind of energy that kept her going over an extra furlong; and Triple Threat, who carried the elephantine impost of 61 kg in last three starts, may now carry the feather weight of only 46.5 kg if her rookie rider can claim a full 5kg allowance.
