Israel struck Iran’s South Pars petrochemical complex in Assaluyeh, part of the world’s largest natural gas field shared with Qatar. Explosions were reported, and power supply to several petrochemical units was disrupted after infrastructure linked to the facility was targeted. South Pars is a critical component of Iran’s energy production and a major source of revenue. The strike comes amid rising tensions over the Strait of Hormuz and a proposed ceasefire framework between the United States and Iran.
