Non-essential shops in Thane and Navi Mumbai have been allowed to function till 10 pm from Monday to Saturday. A day after the state government brought out a notification under the ‘Break The Chain’ mission, the District Disaster Management Authority, Thane, discussed the norms to spell out city-centric guidelines.

The non-essential shops will remain closed on Sunday, while shopping malls won’t be operating till the next order. Restaurants can have customers on their premises up to 4 pm from Monday to Saturday.

The state has allowed relaxations to shops and other establishments in the districts having fewer patients. BMC released its regulations on Monday night.

Thane district Collector Rajesh Narvekar headed the meeting on Tuesday to formulate the new rules that will also be applicable to Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivali, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Mira-Bhayander and Ulhasnagar corporations. They will be effective at once.
