Did you always dream of making snow angels and skating on ice? Did you ever wish to see the city under a blanket of snow? Well, if all goes according to plans, there are chances that Mumbaikars would be able to fulfill their dreams of a 'white Christmas.'



In an attempt to boost tourism in the city, the civic body wants to build a Snow World in the city based on the model present in Hyderabad and Kolhapur.

The BMC is scheduling to invite tenders to build a snow-themed amusement park in the city. "A meeting was held to discuss the theme park that would be based on the parks that are present in Hyderabad and Kolhapur.

It will generate a lot of income and help in the beautification of the city too," said a BMC official on the condition of anonymity.

The official informed that if everything panned out according to plans, citizens of Mumbai would very soon be able to enjoy snow and icy temperatures of the Polar region. "It is something new that the corporation is planning and we are analyzing all the pros and cons," added the official.

The official further elaborated that tenders would be invited and Rs one lakh would be kept aside by the BMC itself. The civic body would also be seeking to acquire land in order to build a recreation ground.

Rahul Shewale, BMC standing committee chairperson confirming the project added, "We would budget it after
the tenders are sent in with the estimation but the entire project should be less than Rs 5 crore. It will provide citizens with an entirely new experience."

Snow World
Snow World, Hyderabad is spread over 17,000 square feet situated near Hussain Sagar Tank Bund and Indra Park. It is India's first snow themed park. Snow slides, merry go-rounds, Ice Bomber cars are some of the joyrides at the park. Entry tickets are priced at Rs 200 for persons between 2' to 4.5' height and Rs 250 for persons above 4.5' height.
