<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/stock-market/article/sensex-nifty-fall-ahead-of-rbi-monetary-policy-decision-sensex-declines-430-points-23653779" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">The domestic equity benchmark indices</a> traded in the positive territory in the early deals led by strong buying in IT stocks. The dip in crude oil prices also boosted invested sentiment.</p>
<p>The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 514.07 points or 0.72 per cent at 72,107.31 in the initial trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty surged 182.50 points or 0.82 per cent at 22,414.30 in the early trade.</p>
<h2>Gainers and laggards</h2>
<p>Among the 30 Sensex constituents, only five declined during the initial trade. Bharat Electronics, Reliance Industries, Eternal, ICICI Bank and Mahindra &amp; Mahindra were the only laggards.&nbsp;</p>
<p>IT stocks were leading with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech all gaining. Adani Ports and ITC were also among the major gainers. The shares of TCS rose 4.57 per cent after <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/tcs-q2-fy27-net-profit-jumps-15-per-cent-to-rs-13884-crore-23654035" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">the company posted a 15 per cent rise in net profit</a> for Q2 FY27.</p>
<p>On Thursday, the Sensex plunged 1,045.46 points, or 1.44 per cent, to settle at 71,593.24, while the Nifty tanked 371.25 points, or 1.64 per cent, to end at 22,231.80.</p>
<h2>Global cues</h2>
<p>Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, declined 1.11 per cent to USD 103 per barrel, according to news agency PTI.</p>
<p>"Global cues remain mixed, as weakness in US technology stocks and elevated crude oil prices amid Middle East tensions continue to weigh on sentiment, while some easing in US bond yields offers limited relief. Investors will closely track crude oil movements, global market trends and institutional flows for further direction," &nbsp;Hitesh Tailor, Technical Research Analyst at Choice Broking said.</p>
<h2>FIIs continue to sell</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/market-round-up-fiis-offload-equities-worth-rs-34970-crore-diis-buy-rs-33460-crore-of-equities-23653183" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers</a> and offloaded equities worth Rs 12,943.58 crore on Thursday. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net buyers, purchasing equities worth Rs 10,703.11 crore as per the exchange data.</p>
<p>"This sustained FII selling spree has emboldened the bears to go short even on fundamentally strong bluechips, weakening the market further. Given the elevated crude prices and high US bond yields, FIIs are likely to continue selling in the near-term, irrespective of the favourable valuations, particularly of the large-caps," V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments said.</p>
<p>FIIs have sold equity for a massive Rs 36,210 crore through the exchanges in October, so far, he noted.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 index and Shanghai's SSE Composite index traded lower, while Hang Seng index quoted higher.</p>
