Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to the hit Taare Zameen Par in 2007, proved to be a massive success. Its emotional and sensitive storyline, along with heart-touching performances by Aamir Khan, alongside 10 debutants. Marking the phenomenal success of the film, the production houses dropped a special documentary titled Sitaaron Ke Sitaare, directed by Shaanib Bakshi.
The special documentary brings forth the stories that lie behind the "Sitaaras" of Sitaare Zameen Par. It offers a touching glimpse into the lives of parents as they navigate their children's diagnoses, slowly come to terms with reality, and continue to build a joyful, hopeful life around them.
Now, Aamir Khan Productions has announced that the documentary is available to watch for free on YouTube, allowing audiences to experience these inspiring stories that highlight how behind every shining "Sitaara" stands a parent who believed, supported, and stood strong.
Announcing the same, the production house wrote, "Behind every shining Sitaara is a parent who always believed in and supported them.
Backed by glowing word of mouth and overwhelming audience affection, Sitaare Zameen Par witnessed an exceptional run at the box office, comfortably securing its blockbuster tag. However, Aamir Khan chose not to end the film's journey there. In a move that broke away from conventional release patterns, he introduced the sports comedy-drama on YouTube through an initiative titled "Janta Ka Theater," making it available at an affordable price of just Rs 100. By taking the film into people's homes, he ensured the story continued to connect with hearts and reach a much wider audience.
Sitaare Zameen Par is a typical slice-of-life movie that shows Aamir Khan as an arrogant basketball coach made to do community service after a case of drunk driving. He is to train a team of players with intellectual disabilities.
Aamir's character Gulshan, who lacks sensitivity from the start, lives with his mother after leaving his wife, Suneeta, who wants a child. How his interaction with the players transforms him as a person is what forms the premise of Sitaare Zameen Par.
Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, along with the 10 rising stars. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and the music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The screenplay is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, with B. Shrinivas Rao and Ravi Bhagchandka as producers. It is directed by R. S. Prasanna, the filmmaker behind barrier-breaking blockbuster Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.
