The teaser of Alia Bhatt's upcoming spy thriller Alpha was released on Wednesday, generating massive buzz online. Along with the film's action-packed visuals, one particular scene that has grabbed everyone's attention is the opening scene. The scene has become the subject of debate among movie lovers, with many claiming it shares a striking similarity to the French classic La Femme Nikita.

The teaser of Alpha opens with a young woman, played by Alia Bhatt, sharing a meal with Bobby Deol's character. In the scene, Bobby, who plays the father, wishes her on her 18th birthday. He then handed over a card containing a room number.

He tells her that the time has come to put her training into action. The teaser then follows with glimpses of intense action scenes, suggesting that Bobby's character has spent years preparing his daughter to become a deadly operative. The teaser shows Alia's character as a highly trained assassin and hints at a mentor-protégé relationship between the two characters, apart from being a father-daughter.

Soon after the teaser was released, users on social media began pointing out similarities between Alpha and the French action-thriller La Femme Nikita.

Fans have now drawn parallels between the scene from Alpha teaser and a sequence from the French classic La Femme Nikita, in which Tcheky Karyo's character Bob takes Anne Parillaud's Nikita, who appears to be a shy and demure young woman but has also been trained to kill, to an upscale restaurant. Nikita is initially delighted by the gesture; however, Bob soon hands her a gun and instructs her to kill three people on the spot.

Several viewers pointed out that both narratives revolve around a young woman being recruited, trained and transformed into a lethal assassin by a powerful association or mentor figure. Many users even shared clips and images from the French classic, noting that the basic premise shown in Alpha's opening moments felt familiar.

For the uninitiated, Alpha is touted to be the first female-led film in YRF's spy universe and also marks Alia's first full-fledged action film. The film brings together Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles.
