The prestigious Cannes Film Festival is set to take place at the French Riviera, and Indian celebrities are preparing to make unforgettable red-carpet appearances. Alia Bhatt and Tara Sutaria have jetted off for the occasion, and their airport looks have already garnered attention. Now, Alia Bhatt's first look from the French Riviera is out, and she exudes princess vibes in a pastel gown.
The actor was photographed at the Hotel Martinez on May 12 in a printed ball gown. Alia Bhatt looks like a summer dream in this outfit for her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. She is wearing a beautiful, romantic ball gown. The dress features a fitted corset-style top with thin spaghetti straps and a flowing, voluminous skirt. What makes this look special is the landscape-inspired print, which uses soft pastel colours like mint green, lavender, and sky blue.
She styled her hair in a side-parted bun and skipped heavy jewellery, opting instead for a few statement rings and dainty earrings. This is the actor's second time at the prestigious film festival. She made her Cannes debut in 2025 and is walking the red carpet this time too.
While fans are waiting for her stunning appearance, Alia faced backlash from a section of the audience after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was reportedly snubbed as the brand ambassador of L'Oréal Paris and Bhatt was highlighted instead. Her portrait was featured alongside Hollywood stars Viola Davis, Eva Longoria, and Helen Mirren. This did not go down well with Aishwarya's fans, as she has been associated with the brand since 2003, while Alia was announced as an ambassador in 2024.
The Cannes Film Festival is likely to witness a strong Indian presence this year, with actors, filmmakers, and producers from several industries expected to attend. Karan Johar, Tara Sutaria, Mouni Roy, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Ammy Virk are also expected to attend. Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is set to be part of the official Indian delegation in his role as the newly appointed director of the International Film Festival of India.
The film festival begins today, May 12, and will conclude on May 23.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt has a slew of films in the pipeline. She will star alongside husband Ranbir Kapoor in Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She is also awaiting the release of YRF's spy thriller Alpha.
