Govinda is proving that the dance floor is still his territory. Amid the ongoing public spat with wife Sunita Ahuja and the buzz surrounding his rumoured relationship with actor Komal Rani Swarnkar, the veteran star was recently seen setting a club in Pattaya, Thailand, on fire with his signature moves.
A video from an Independence Day celebration at the club has surfaced online, showing Govinda performing alongside background dancers. Dressed in a sharp black-and-white suit, the actor grooved to some of his popular 1990s tracks, including Soni De Nakhre and Sone Lagde. And yes, the trademark Govinda energy was very much intact.
The performance, however, has divided social media. While several fans were thrilled to see the Hero No. 1 star dancing again, others questioned whether a superstar of his stature should be performing at a club.
One social media user commented, "Feeling bad for this superstar⦠performing in club." Another defended the actor, writing, "Nothing wrong in earning money, at least he is coming back on his own feet." A fan simply declared, "My hero no.1 forever," while another called him a "Super celebrity Govinda."
Interestingly, another user compared the performance favourably with recent controversies surrounding Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn's pan masala endorsements, writing, "Better than Pan masala Ad."
The mixed reactions come at a particularly eventful time for Govinda. The actor has been making headlines over his equation with Komal Rani Swarnkar, who is set to feature in his comeback project. His public appearances with her have also prompted strong reactions from Sunita.
Sunita recently referred to Govinda as Komal's "sugar daddy" in a sharp reaction to their airport appearance, while questioning his decision to be seen with someone much younger.
Govinda subsequently hit back at his wife, asking her to "know your limits" and alleging that people behind her statements would eventually be exposed.
Despite the personal drama, Govinda appears to be keeping his focus on work. His Pattaya appearance also offered fans a nostalgic throwback to the era when his songs and trademark dance moves ruled Bollywood.
For his loyal followers, the takeaway seems straightforward: decades after his 1990s peak, Govinda still knows how to command a dance floor.
