As Border 2 marches into theatres, its reworked anthem has ignited a familiar Bollywood debate: nostalgia versus originality. The updated version of Sandese Aate Hain, now titled Ghar Kab Aaoge, features new lyrics and is re-recorded by Sonu Nigam. The move comes amid Javed Akhtar's sharp criticism of remakes as "intellectual and creative bankruptcy". Responding with restraint and reverence, Sonu said, "If Border is a soldier, Sandese Aate Hain is his uniform. We can't imagine Border without the song." He further underlined the emotional weight of the franchise, adding that it tells "true stories of our soldiers and our victory", making the song inseparable from its soul. Verdict? The melody stays - only the stitching changes.
