Honey Singh on battling drug addiction

Speaking to NDTV, Honey was asked what advice he would give to his younger self. Responding to the question, he said, "The Honey Singh 15-20 years back was also very intelligent and ambitious, but he made one big mistake, he did drugs. And he got influenced by them. That damaged me a lot. I tell all my younger brothers and sisters to stay away from drugs, especially dry drugs."

He added, "Drugs damage you slowly, and you don't even realise it. I had left dry drugs in 2014 when I got sick, but even then it took me eight years to get better. It didn't leave my system easily, so I don't want anything like this to happen to anyone, not even my enemies."

The Lungi Dance singer has also openly spoken about his battle with bipolar disorder. He took a sabbatical from work when he was seeking medical help for his mental health. He revealed that he continued to earn from his previous hits even during that phase.

"I never read the comments, but I know people were talking about whether I should make a comeback or not. When I was sick, my old songs worked a lot because we kept getting revenue. In 2021, I realised my old songs were still working, but people were calling it a comeback because I had gained weight and looked weird. I started working on my album, but it didn't work much, so even I felt I wasn't up to the mark. But when I made the album Glory in 2024, I knew it would be a hit."

'Forgotten parents': Honey Singh

Honey also shared that he avoided seeing his parents so he could hide his addiction from them. "During my peak from 2012 to 2014, I met my parents only 4-5 times because my mind was occupied with fame and money. I was touring the world and had forgotten them. I also kept my distance because I thought they would find out about my addiction," he said.
