Kangana Ranaut
Actor Kangana Ranaut will continue her interest in films based on real-life events with her next project. The actress is currently working on a film tentatively titled Bharat Bhhagya Vidhhata. According to recent reports, the film is based on the impact of the 2008 Mumbai attacks at Cama and Albless Hospital.
According to a report by Variety India, Kangana Ranaut will play a nurse working at Cama Hospital, which was targeted during the 26/11 attacks. The film will focus on the courage shown by the hospital staff as they dealt with an overwhelming number of patients while the attacks unfolded across the city. The film also features Marathi actress Girija Oak in an important role. She is known for films such as Shor in the City, Qala, Jawan and Inspector Zende.
The film has reportedly been described as a cinematic tribute to "unsung heroes." It will be directed by Manoj Tapadia, marking his feature film directorial debut. Shooting for the film began in January 2026.
On November 26, 2008, terrorists from Pakistan entered Mumbai by sea and launched coordinated attacks across several locations in the city, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Many people were killed and several others were injured.
Several of the injured were brought to Cama Hospital as it was located close to where the firing took place. However, the hospital soon became a target as well. Even as the threat loomed over the hospital, the staff prioritised the safety of patients and continued treating them.
Earlier, filmmaker Nikkhil Advani had made a series titled Mumbai Diaries 26/11 based on the events.
Kangana was last seen in Emergency, which she also directed and co-produced. In the political drama, she portrayed former prime minister Indira Gandhi. The film focuses on the 21-month Emergency period in India between 1975 and 1977. However, the movie did not perform well at the box office. Actors Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade and Anupam Kher were also part of the cast.
Kangana will next be seen alongside R. Madhavan in a thriller directed by A. L. Vijay. She is also reportedly in talks with Aanand L. Rai for Tanu Weds Manu 3, although the project is yet to be confirmed.
