The throne is calling, and the battle for Mirzapur is heading to the big screen. The trailer of Mirzapur: The Movie is finally out, bringing back the franchise's familiar mix of power, betrayal, violence and dark humour, but this time, on a much grander canvas.

Battle for throne gets bigger

Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, the film brings together some of the most popular characters from the streaming franchise. Pankaj Tripathi returns as the formidable Kaleen Bhaiya, while Divyenndu is back as Munna Bhaiya and Ali Fazal reprises his role as Guddu Pandit.

The trailer immediately drops audiences into the chaotic world of Mirzapur, where alliances can change in a heartbeat and everyone seems to have their eyes on the coveted throne. The familiar intensity is intact, but the stakes appear to have been raised considerably for its theatrical outing.

At the centre of the story is the race for power, with new contenders entering the fray and threatening to disturb the established equations. The trailer hints at fresh rivalries, confrontations and shifting loyalties as the battle moves beyond the familiar territory of Purvanchal.

The film also expands the visual world of the franchise, taking audiences into desert landscapes and larger-scale action sequences. Yet, despite the change in scale, the trailer retains the trademark dialogues and ‘Bhaukaal' that have become synonymous with Mirzapur.

The ensemble features several returning faces, including Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Sonal S. Chauhan, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and others.

OTT favourite goes theatrical

The film marks the next step for a franchise that has become one of India's most recognisable streaming properties. Moving from OTT to cinemas, Mirzapur: The Movie appears to be retaining the show's gritty DNA while widening its world for the big screen.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner. Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serve as co-producers.

With Kaleen Bhaiya, Munna Bhaiya and Guddu Pandit back in the game, the trailer promises a combustible mix of old rivalries, new challengers and plenty of surprises.

Mirzapur: The Movie releases in cinemas on September 4, 2026, in Hindi and Telugu.
