Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh is currently basking in the success of Dhurandhar. The film, which was released in early December, has broken almost all box office records and is creating new ones. The film is already in the Rs 1000 crore club globally and continues to perform well. Amid this, an old video of Sandeep Reddy Vanga calling Ranveer his first choice for the Kabir Singh remake has gone viral.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga made his Bollywood debut with the Hindi remake of his Telugu film Arjun Reddy. The Hindi remake, titled Kabir Singh, starred Shahid Kapoor in the lead and was a massive success. However, in an interview with iDream Media, Vanga had revealed that his first choice for the role was Ranveer Singh. "I was continuously getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. First, it was pitched to Ranveer Singh. I wanted to do it with him. But finally, he decided he will not do it because it was too dark for him at that time."
The film was finally made with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead. Talking about the cast, he had said, "Shahid's track record was a concern; none of his solo films had done Rs 100 crore then, his highest was Rs 65 crore. They used to say Rs 55 crore, Rs 65 crore is the kind of business Telugu movies do. âWhy are you doing it with this guy? If it was Ranveer, the box office would be higher.' But I was always sure about Shahid; he's a fantastic actor."
Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has expressed his admiration for Dhurandhar. Sandeep took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to compliment Aditya Dhar's film and the cast's performances. "Dhurandhar is built like a man who doesn't talk much and carries a masculine spine. The title fits because the film moves with dominance and fierceness. The depiction is very clear with zero chaos. Music, performances, screenplay, and direction are on the top," Sandeep Reddy Vanga wrote.
The director added, "Akshay Khanna sir and Ranveer Singh erased into air and just disappeared into their characters effortlessly. Thank you, Aditya Dhar Films, for making everyone experience the true weight of untold sacrifices."
