Balaji Motion Pictures has commenced the shooting of its upcoming date-night horror entertainer, Ragini 3. The film, starring Tamannaah Bhatia, has gone on floors in London and is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027.
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Ragini 3 takes the popular Indian horror franchise into a thrilling new chapter. Mixing scares with romance and unexpected turns, the film promises a fresh take on the genre while retaining the franchise's signature edge.
Tamannaah Bhatia has begun filming the first schedule in London. In the picture shared by the actress, she can be seen holding the film's clapboard while smiling on set. The slate confirms that production has commenced, with "Day 01" marking the beginning of the shoot.
Known for effortlessly moving between commercial entertainers and performance-driven roles, Tamannaah steps into a character that is equal parts intriguing and unpredictable, making Ragini 3 one of her most anticipated projects. She was always the one and only choice to headline the film, with the makers convinced she was the perfect fit to lead its unique blend of horror, romance, and humour.
Ragini 3 has been making headlines since its early development. Reports initially suggested that Nora Fatehi had been considered for the lead role. Earlier this year, reports claimed that the film had been put on hold after director Sahir Raza stepped away due to scheduling conflicts. Soon after, the makers officially unveiled the project with Tamannaah Bhatia and Junaid Khan as the lead pair.
The Ragini MMS franchise began in 2011 with Rajkummar Rao and Kainaz Motivala, followed by Ragini MMS 2 in 2014. The sequel is best known for the hit song Baby Doll, featuring Sunny Leone. A recent report suggested that the makers are now looking to recreate the magic of the song with Tamannaah Bhatia in the third instalment.
On the work front, Tamannaah will also star in Vvan alongside Sidharth Malhotra. The film was originally slated to release in August; however, it has been postponed to avoid a clash with Toxic. Apart from this, she is also a part of V. Shantaram's biopic alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi.
