Rapper Hanumankind, best known for his global hits Big Dawgs and Run It Up, joined students and activists during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) led Chalo Sansad march in New Delhi on Monday. Videos of the rapper walking alongside protesters quickly surfaced on social media, showing him dressed in an Indian cricket jersey and blending into the crowd as demonstrators marched towards Parliament demanding action over alleged NEET examination irregularities.

Hanumankind joins CJP protests

The rapper also shared his experience from the ground on Instagram Stories. Posting a video captured before police intervened, Hanumankind wrote, "Right before the cops started firing tear gas and beating people with sticks." The footage showed protesters waving the Indian flag and raising slogans before the situation escalated.

He later reshared another video from the protest after police action began, criticising the use of force against demonstrators. "There's no justification for this kind of force being used against the people that showed up today. Believing we deserve better is not a crime," he wrote. He also reposted a message that read, "I witnessed two very different demonstrations. One created by the people. One created by the response."

Diljit Dosanjh compared to Hanumankind

Another video shared by a protester showed Hanumankind posing briefly for a selfie before continuing with the march. The rapper acknowledged the post with a salute emoji, but it was the accompanying caption that drew attention online.

The protester compared Hanumankind with singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, urging the latter to take a more active role in social issues. The caption read that despite achieving global fame with tracks like Big Dawgs, Hanumankind chose to participate in the protest, adding that artists should speak up on issues affecting society.

Diljit had earlier faced criticism after saying, "I am an artist. I am not a politician," when asked about the Jantar Mantar protests. However, following Monday's clashes, he issued a statement expressing solidarity with the students and urged authorities to listen to their demands. He also revealed that he had previously faced backlash and legal issues after supporting the farmers' protest, adding that he expected to be labelled "anti-national" once again for speaking out.

The ongoing demonstrations, led by the CJP, Sonam Wangchuk and students, continue to demand accountability over alleged NEET examination irregularities and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
