It's been almost three years since we witnessed the charisma of Shah Rukh Khan on the silver screen. His last film Zero (2018) wherein he ventured into a different space of content was not very well received. Since then, fans have been yearning to see their King Khan shine on the big screen once again. While the superstar is yet to formally announce his next project, he has been busy shooting for his upcoming projects. As the Badshah of Bollywood celebrates his 56th birthday today away from the city, in Alibaug with his family, we bring you updates on 5 of his upcoming projects that fans are eagerly waiting for.

Pathan

Pathan is one of the most anticipated films of 2022. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Pathan also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. Helmed by War director Siddharth Anand, the film is touted to have some of the most lavish action scenes ever shot in a Bollywood film. The film will have some edge-of-the-seat action sequences, and a special song sequence featuring Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone shot in the port city of Mallorca, Cadiz and a hill top Vejer De La Frontera in Spain.

Sanki

Another most awaited project of Shah Rukh Khan is his collaboration with blockbuster South filmmaker Atlee. SRK will reportedly have a double role in the film. He plays the role of an Indian intelligence agency officer, and a lawbreaker, with the story tracing the conflict that arises when the two characters cross paths. Shah Rukh will sport two distinct looks in the movie. Talking about the project, a source had earlier told Mid Day, "When Atlee first approached the superstar, he had the plot and a few powerful sequences in mind. Now, the complete script is ready. In March, he flew down to Mumbai to give the final narration to Shah Rukh Khan at Mannat. The actor loved it so much that he immediately agreed. The stylised action drama will be jointly backed by Shah Rukh and his good friend Karan Johar."

A yet-to-be-titled movie with Rajkumar Hirani

Rajkumar Hirani's next featuring Shah Rukh Khan is a social comedy based on immigration. The storyline will move from Punjab to Canada and reportedly, Taapsee Pannu will play the female lead.

Brahmastra

Shah Rukh Khan has an interesting cameo in Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer Brahmastra. According to reports, the actor plays a scientist in Ayan Mukerji's fantasy drama while South star Nagarjuna plays an archaeologist. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as a character Shiva, in a quest for ‘brahmastra'. Alia Bhatt plays the role of Isha. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy in important roles. The film has been shot in places like Bulgaria, Mumbai, Varanasi and Manali.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect

In R Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Shah Rukh Khan will reportedly play a cameo, but a pivotal role of a journalist. The film is a biopic based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist and aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who was accused of espionage. Madhavan plays the titular role and has also written, produced and directed it.

And that's not all. If you remember, Shah Rukh Khan also recently teased about his association with the OTT platform. Further details are still awaited. He is also said to have a cameo in Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha.
