Actor and model Rohullah Mehdi, who appeared alongside Shahid Kapoor in the 2025 film Deva, has been arrested by the Kashimira Police Crime Branch in connection with an alleged drug trafficking case. According to ANI, Mehdi and an associate were allegedly found with 28 grams of drugs following a police operation.
As per reports, the Kashimira Police acted on a tip-off that Mehdi was expected to arrive at Dahisar Check Naka for an alleged drug transaction. Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Kamble of Kashimira Police Station reportedly formed a team, following which surveillance and an investigation were initiated.
Mehdi and his associate were subsequently arrested, with police allegedly recovering 28 grams of drugs. The Mira-Bhayandar Police said that an investigation into the case has been launched.
According to an NDTV report, Mehdi is originally from the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir and had been living in Goregaon, Mumbai. Apart from his appearance in the Shahid Kapoor-starrer, the actor has reportedly featured in several web series.
Following his arrest, Mehdi was produced before a court and remanded to five days of police custody, as per the report. Police are now investigating the alleged drug network and are reportedly trying to determine the source of the substances as well as whether Mehdi had allegedly supplied them to anyone else.
Mehdi is best known to Bollywood audiences for his association with Shahid Kapoor-starrer Deva. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur under Roy Kapur Films, the 2025 action thriller also starred Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in pivotal roles.
The film follows a volatile police officer whose life takes an unexpected turn after an accident leaves him with memory loss. As he attempts to piece together his past, he finds himself reinvestigating the murder of a fellow police officer.
Deva received a mixed response from critics and audiences and had an underwhelming run at the box office. The film was also adapted from Andrrews' 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police.
Meanwhile, the police investigation into the case involving Mehdi is ongoing. Authorities are expected to further examine the alleged trafficking network and establish the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the drugs. Mehdi's arrest has not only put the spotlight on the case but also drawn attention to the actor's brief stint in Bollywood, particularly his appearance in Shahid Kapoor's Deva.
