Suniel Shetty
Actor Suniel Shetty has been extensively promoting his son Ahan Shetty's second theatrical release, Border 2, since the start of the year. The film was released in theatres on January 23 and had a strong opening weekend. However, Shetty is yet to watch the film. He had vowed to see it only after it crosses the Rs 500 crore mark at the box office.
A month later, Shetty remains hopeful that the film will achieve the milestone, allowing him to finally watch it on the big screen.
In a recent conversation with ABP News, Suniel Shetty said, "Because I had decided long ago, even before the film, that since it's a patriotic film, it should definitely cross Rs 500 crore. And I had set it in my mind that I will watch it only after that."
Currently, Border 2 has crossed Rs 440 crore at the box office. While the number of screens has reduced, the film continues to run in theatres. Most releases in February failed to make a significant impact at the box office, and the first half of March has not seen any major theatrical releases. "I think, for a father's love, God will ensure we reach the Rs 500 crore mark." He added sincerely, "It was just a thought, an emotion, and I have stuck to it. And just so you know, I haven't seen a single frame of the film yet."
In the same conversation, Shetty also revealed that he does not watch matches played by his cricketer son-in-law, KL Rahul. Drawing parallels with his decision not to watch Border 2, he said, "I don't watch matches at all. Even though I'm an avid cricket fan, I just don't watch. I don't even listen to commentary, but I understand what's happening from my wife, who's watching and reacting in the next room. I do watch highlights later, because by then everything has settled. Otherwise, I get extremely anxious. He's my child, and we just want him to do well," he explained.
