Govinda has reacted strongly to recent remarks made by his wife, Sunita Ahuja, after she appeared to comment on his equation with an alleged girlfriend and referred to him as a "sugar daddy". The actor, who has been in the news amid reports about his personal life, hit back at the criticism and urged his wife to refrain from making public remarks that could affect his image.
Addressing the situation, Govinda said, "The work that I get outside, I don't do it and the work that I get, you are meddling in between. And when you were doing your work may that be the cooking show or Lock Upp, you told Tina and got me there. You used the privileges for both the shows."
He went on to accuse Sunita of interfering with his professional life at a time when he has started working on a new film. Govinda said, "Now that I have started my film, you are leaving no stone unturned in tarnishing my image."
The actor also spoke about his journey in the film industry and the challenges faced by people who come from modest backgrounds. He said, "A man from a poor family who tries to make his name in the Industry, don't torture and humiliate them so much that they get scared and leave."
Govinda further objected to what he described as age-shaming, particularly in the context of older male actors working with younger actresses. He said, "This doesn't suit you, and the age-shaming that you have done. I must remind you that all big stars have worked with young actresses in the Industry. They got good films, fame and money and the older starts got a chance to work with young talents."
His remarks come after Sunita spoke about Govinda and his alleged relationship, with her comments triggering discussion online. She has previously spoken openly about her marriage and the challenges that have come with being married to a prominent Bollywood actor.
Govinda also suggested that the couple should avoid publicly discussing each other's personal matters. Appealing for restraint, he said, "You will need me at some point, so please refrain from tarnishing each other's image through such podcasts and interactions."
The actor's comments underline the increasingly public nature of the discussion surrounding his personal and professional life. While Sunita's remarks have sparked reactions among fans and social media users, Govinda's response indicates that he wants the focus to remain on his work rather than speculation surrounding his relationships.
The actor has also made it clear that he does not want criticism or personal attacks to affect his return to films. His comments come at a time when he is attempting to revive his acting career and take on new projects after a period away from the spotlight.
