Veteran actress Kamini Kaushal was laid to rest on Saturday in Mumbai. Her family performed her last rites in a quiet and intimate ceremony. Unfortunately, despite her immense contribution to Indian cinema, the late actress' funeral saw no presence from the Bollywood fraternity. No actors or celebrities were spotted attending the final farewell. For the unversed, Kamini Kaushal was known to be India's oldest living actress. She died at the age of 98.

Kamini Kaushal's last rites performed

Kamini's elder son, Vidhur, performed her last rites, as he led the traditional Hindu rituals on Saturday morning at Worli Shamshaan Bhoomi. Before the funeral, Kamini Kaushal's mortal remains were brought to the crematorium from her residence in Mumbai. In a video surfacing from her funeral, the late actress's pet dogs are seen participating and bidding an emotional farewell as members of her family brought along her loyal companions.

The actress reportedly appeared in over 70 films during her career spanning more than seven decades in the film industry. Her last outing was in Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha', which hit the theatres in 2022, where she played a cameo. Prior to that, she was seen playing Shahid Kapoor's grandmother in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh.

Celebrities mourned her death on social media

After the news of her death broke, several celebrities took to social media to pay tributes. Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Shoojit Sircar among others, paid their tributes to the veteran actress.

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, who shared screen space with Kamini Kaushal in Kabir Singh, expressed their grief through heartfelt posts on social media. Sharing a picture of the legendary actress, Kiara wrote, "It was an honour to work with you. Your grace, humility and talent inspired generations and left an unforgettable mark on Indian cinema. Rest in peace, Kamini Kaushal Ji."

Shahid Kapoor reacted to the passing of his on-screen grandmother Kamini Kaushal, with a brief message that read, "Rest in light, ma'am." Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor, who was seen with her in Laal Singh Chadha, shared a picture of the veteran actress on Instagram, adding a heart, rainbow, and folded-hands emoji as her tribute.
