The trailer of Meghna Gulzar's Daayra was unveiled a few days ago at an event in Mumbai, where Kareena Kapoor's expressive reactions grabbed attention online. Several videos of the actor making different expressions went viral on social media. On Friday, the makers hosted another promotional event for the film, where writer Gulzar, Meghna, Kareena, and Prithviraj Sukumaran marked their presence. During the event, Kareena jokingly said that she gave '100 expressions' at the trailer launch because she barely got a chance to show them in the movie.
The actress said, "You all know that at the trailer launch I gave 100 expressions. I didn't get the opportunity to do it in the movie, so that's why I did it at the trailer launch (laughs). Because in the film Meghna has controlled it."
Kareena further revealed that her character required her to remain composed throughout the film, as she plays a police officer, which involved her sitting behind a desk and interviewing other characters. "Because I have held on to the character a lot in the film, I was always sitting because, as a police officer, I had a table in front of me. So I was always interviewing when I was with the other actors," she said.
"The camera was always on my face. But my legs were always like this," said Kareena, acting out her legs shaking. "When Bebo-expression would come, she (Meghna) would be like, no," highlighting how restrained her character is.
Kareena also expressed her excitement for the film and wants audiences to give her a special birthday present by watching Daayra. "I can't wait for September 18, the day Daayra releases. I want the audience to give me a birthday present as my birthday is on September 21. Hence, I am sure it's going to be amazing (smiles)."
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Daayra is set to hit theatres on September 18. The film will not have a solo release as it is set to clash with Kunal Kemmu, Preity Zinta-starrer Vibe.
