Marvel fans may need to brace themselves for another emotional ride. Actress Hayley Atwell has dropped a major hint about Peggy Carter and Steve Rogers' future in Avengers: Doomsday, suggesting that the beloved couple's story may take an unexpected turn. The actor has also confirmed that she will reprise her role as Peggy Carter in the highly anticipated Marvel film, which hits Indian theatres on December 18.

Peggy's new journey in Avengers: Doomsday

Speaking in a recent interview at San Diego Comic-Con, Atwell was asked about the version of Peggy Carter audiences will see in Avengers: Doomsday. Without revealing plot details, she hinted that the film will challenge everything fans think they know.

"All I can say is that things are not what they seem at times. The world has turned upside down; it's described like an existential crisis of an epic movie. The stakes could not be higher for everyone, particularly for Peggy and Steve. We're going to be seeing a much more ruffled Peggy than we have before."

Her comments have fuelled speculation among Marvel fans, especially after Avengers: Endgame concluded Steve Rogers' story with him travelling back in time to live a quiet life with Peggy. Atwell's latest remarks suggest that their happily-ever-after could face fresh complications in the multiverse saga.

The actress also shared that every time she returns to the character, she hopes to explore a new side of Peggy and push her evolution further.
