GOAT director Venkat Prabhu and Vijay's co-star Premgi react as 'CM 2026' number plate from the film goes viral

Soon after Vijay secured a historic win at teh Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 through his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), a scene from his 2024 film GOAT began doing rounds on the internet. The scene specifically caught the eye since many saw a number plate in the scene as a hint at Vijay's Chief Ministerial ambitions. As the clip continues to go viral, GOAT's director Venkat Prabhu and actor Premgi Amaren have now reacted to it, adding to the online buzz.

Interestingly, the now-viral scene had Vijay driving a car whose number plate read, 'TN 07 CM 2026.' The ‘CM' referenced on the vehicle's number plate has now turned into reality, with the 51-year-old actor-politician all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 8, 2026. Vijay's swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

The clip, which is now widely circulating on social media, shows Vijay driving a vehicle with the number plate ‘TN 07 CM 2026'. The detail that has sparked conversations and online chatter, especially after the wake of TVK's win in its electoral debut in Tamil Nadu.

Joining the ongoing conversation, actor Premgi shared a meme from the scene on his X account and wrote, "Hi it's me sitting next to our CM in the car (sic)." Notably, he had earlier shared the clip as well, drawing attention to the number plate with the caption, "Check out the car number (sic)."

Director Venkat Prabhu, who helmed the film, also reacted to it by re-sharing Premgi's post with a brief "Heehehehe" and laughing emojis.

GOAT was released months after Vijay launched his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam in February 2024. Back then, speculation was already building around his potential political plans. In that context, the ‘TN 07 CM 2026' number plate detail is now being considered by some as a symbolic or coincidental reference to the 2026 Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Vijay's next film, Jana Nayagan, is yet to receive a final release date. Speculations are rife around an August 2026 release for the film, which has been stuck since January.
